The purpose of this alphorn gathering will be to explore the historical significance of the alphorn. We will be playing an all-new set of music that has been arranged using traditional Swiss melodies originally written down and published in Bern around 1818. We will have world-class instructors Bill Hopson and Jim Hopson to lead group rehearsals as well as give masterclasses and lead discussions.
You do not need to own an alphorn to participate in this event! There will be a limited number of alphorns available for loan for a fee of $80.
The fee for this event will be $350 per participant. This will cover dinner on Thursday, breakfast on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and transportation as necessary. This will also help to cover the costs of bringing out the instructors. Participants are responsible for their own lodging, and also any fees for private lessons they may wish to schedule. Rides will be available from Reno-Tahoe International Airport upon request for those flying in on Thursday morning before noon and departing Monday morning.

Lodging on-campus is traditional dorm rooms–linens for the beds and bathrooms are available, but must be requested when reserving a room. Care packages with toiletries will be available to all participants by AlpenSong.
